Rail freight allows for fast transport of a wide range of goods not only in Lithuania, but also to European and Asian countries. It is much faster than transporting goods by road or sea – for example, the longest rail route from Lithuania to China takes about 10 days, while the same distance by sea can be covered in 45 days. The Rail Baltica project will further increase rail freight opportunities by connecting Warsaw, Kaunas, Vilnius, Panevėžys, Salaspils, Parnu, Muuga and Helsinki by sea.
